No Voice Too Big or Too Small
When we women open our voices, we can begin to heal and reclaim our inner strength and power and freely express ourselves. It is time to speak out, to be heard. We do it for ourselves, our children, and our female ancestors, whose voices were often harshly silenced. It is time for women to let the full spectrum of our voices and beings to shine.
This workshop is designed for women who would like to devote some time to freeing expression through speech or singing.
No previous experience needed
Freedom of expression is crucial to a person’s well-being
“Some people don’t have musical ability.” – WRONG
We are all musical.
For example, your ability to distinguish and differentiate various people’s voices IS already a musical ability!
“People who have “perfect or “absolute pitch” (ability to sense and name various tone pitches) are highly musical, all other not so much.” – WRONG
There is NO correlation found between musical talent and capability of “perfect pitch”. We are all BORN with musical talent and it can be developed!
In the Sessions
We look into some issues that restrain us from speaking and/or singing freely
We meditate, share, and get into some magical features of our voices …
We learn voice-opening exercises
Maya works on voice opening through the three main steps:
1. BREATH AND VOICE
In this workshop, you will learn:
– Origins and the manifestation of fear, and how it influences our breathing and voice
– How to use breathing to go through the fear and relax the voice, so we begin to express freely
– Meditation and relaxation exercises that liberate the voice
2. BODY AND VOICE
Our bodies are instruments that produce voices. But, conditioned by our upbringing and culture, we tend to reject the bodies and “live in the head”. This attitude reflects on our breathing and voice.
You will learn some exercises that bring us back to our bodies and connect with our deeply authentic voice, which lives in our bodies.
3. FREEING YOUR VOICE EXPRESSION
To summarise the work on breathing and body, we will focus on bringing them together, to help freeing one’s expression – that is something we all long for.
We will share, and learn a simple song that will embody what we learned in the workshop and help us connect.
Maya Mahima Zarkovic
Maya is a creative professional and holistic counsellor with experience in various strands of music and creativity, from being a professional violinist, coach, teacher, radio broadcaster, renowned arts and music manager, co-founder of festivals and courses, to sound healing practitioner. She got BMus(Hons) from the Royal College of Music in London, an MA in Music Education from the University College Institute of Education London, and an MA in Arts Management from the City University of London. She is trained in essential counselling at Working With People™, in Enneagram, Inner Judge structure and the Psychology of Creativity and Performance. Maya has been working with performers and other people on self-worth, diminishing anxiety, and free public performance, among other issues.
Maya is a founder and facilitates international seminars Free Voice Spirit for the opening of the voice through body movement and sound healing.
